I am currently interested in the relationship between ontogeny and phylogeny in the skeletal development of extant birds. I am looking at the timing of appearance of diagnostic skeletal features, as well as at comparative ossification sequences. I hope to shed some light on whether ontogenetic characters can be phylogenetically informative. I am also working on projects dealing with brain evolution in dinosaurs and chondrichthyan embryology.
