Trond P. Sigurdsen

My main interest is the evolutionary origins of major vertebrate taxa. I am currently studying paleozoic temnospondyl amphibians in order to figure out some of the controversies hampering our understanding of modern amphibian groups. Whereas the evolution of some vertebrate classes, such as birds and mammals, is relatively well known, the origins of the extant amphibian orders (frogs salamanders and caecilians) remain controversial. More specifically, my studies focus on the Lower Permian amphibian genus Doleserpeton, which may be linked to the origins of modern frogs.
