Once in the Arctic, we will travel to Bylot Island by helicopter, flying out of Pond Inlet, Nunavut. We will be spending about a week excavating sites discovered in 2004, of which one locality yielded the only known theropods (carnivorous dinosaurs) from this regions.Once this work is completed, we will return to Baffin Island, prospecting for new fossil deposits. We hope to find plant fossils on Baffin Island, which could greatly help us understand the climate and ecosystems that existed there at that time.
